8mm Horror Film in video stores

I'm between projects right now so I've had a chance to catch up on the latest low-budget direct-to-video horror movies. Recently, I rented a movie called "Dead Life" from the local Hollywood Video. Its a basic low-budget zombie movie, but the one thing that really stood out was that the whole movie was shot on 8mm film. Well, everything except for a quick news segment in the movie that was shot on video... and boy, was that a kick in the nuts when you see the two formats side-by-side! I think I actually flinched.

Anyway, I'm trying to recall any other movies shot primarily on 8mm film that have received national/international distribution, but I keep drawing a blank. Can anyone think of any other movies shot on 8mm that have received major distribution? This can't be the only one.

Shot on 8mm over a period of 4 years by J.R. Bookwalter when he was 19 years old. It's not a bad flick, but it's not as great as I thought it was six years ago when I first saw it. What's impressive is the sheer scale of some of the scenes, Bookwalter managed to get a shitload of extras together.

There's a special edition coming out later this year/early nextyear from Anchor Bay.

Interesting fact: Sam Raimi produced it using the pseudonym The Master Cylinder.

there's this movie i'm really impressed with called, 'the dividing hour',

an indy movie, shot on... wait for it...

8mm cassette.

the picture looks poor at times and the audio is really bad, but the effort of it all is amazing.

Yeah, 'the dead next door' was the first one that came to mind.
you should look at the 8mm stuff on the Michel Grondry dvd, they're only short but they're proper belting.

8mm Video is vastly different than Super8mm film...

You will get stunning images with Super8.

one of the best comedies i have ever seen, makes me want to see all of the old Horror movies the guy who wrote it said he was inspired by...
